"In the Rupture is the Sacred Space"

2025 Friday the 7th of March till Sunday the 13th of April.
Eltham Library Community Gallery. An experimental photography collaboration between the artist Siri Hayes and Oliver D Wood that shares the results of Wood working into, through and around Hayes’s 25-year archive of large format photographic negatives using pens, paint brushes, fire and sharp implements to create gestural line and texture. Hayes has then significantly enlarged them in a colour darkroom.
The original photographic surface (depicting local Nillumbik bushland) is ruptured and, the introduction of experimental and innovative pictorial dimensions, induce a sense of portal to other places. The collaboration prompts notions of the mystical but particularly explores a sacred creative place between mother and child.
